Dear Fairbanks Families,
The letter below was sent home with students prior to Winter Break. We recently discovered that the January Community Meeting was shared with an incorrect date and time. The correct date is January 30th at 6:30 pm in the MS/HS Media Center. All Community Meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the MS/HS Media Center.
We sincerely apologize for any confusion.
Please watch the district website, building daily announcements and social media for the most up-to-date information.
A corrected letter is printed below.

Today, when I get into my vehicle to drive to a destination, I use a GPS tool that is on my personal device. This tool will tell me exactly how to get where I am going. Several generations ago, explorers used a variety of navigational tools to help find their destination. One constant was the āNorth Starā. Whether by land or sea, the North Star was a consistent navigational tool to help people find their destination.
Over the next several months, we are going to design a āNorth Starā for Fairbanks Local Schools. We need your help to make this process a success. The outcome will be a unified district Mission, Vision, and Strategic Roadmap that will enhance the conditions for success for our students, staff, and community. To get to this outcome will need your voice, opinions, and investment in this community conversation.
This request is not easy. You are all busy with life - family, church, sports, kids, work, etc. Our request is for you to participate in one of our community outreach initiatives over the next several months. These initiatives will consist of community meetings, surveys, and small group opportunities to participate. Please choose one. Also, please bring a friend.
Starting in January, we will have a small group of parents, staff members, students, and community partners that will create pieces to share at the community meetings. All meetings will be in the High School/Middle School Media Center. Below is a list of the community meetings:
January 30 at 6:30 pm
February 27 at 6:30 pm
April 30 at 6:30 pm
Our community meetings will consist of dialogue, feedback, and idea generation. At each meeting, community members will be briefed and then jump into the planning process. By May, our goal is to make recommendations to the Board of Education. This work will guide our direction and reflect the deep pride our community has in Fairbanks Schools.
Please contact me with any questions at adhamschirg@fairbankspanthers.org or (937) 349-3791. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to Fairbanks Local Schools!! Go Panthers!!
Sincerely,
Adham Schirg
